3Com 3C507 EtherLink 16 ISA series adapters
This UnixWare release supports these 3Com 3C507 ISA adapters:
-
3C507 EtherLink 16
-
3C507 EtherLink 16 TP
To complete configuration for these adapters,
the Network Configuration Manager prompts you for
I/O base address.
For more information, see
``Configuration parameters''.
NOTE:
-
Because the 3C507 adapter uses the I/O
base address 100 for storing other network information,
you cannot use that address for any other device.
-
The 3C507 adapter does not work in 16-bit mode
with some motherboard chip sets.
When you use your DOS setup utility
to configure your adapter, the 3C507
adapters can be set to use either
8- or 16-bit data transfers:
s (standard)-
8-bit data transfer
t (turbo)-
16-bit data transfer
These options can be set up with the
Network Configuration Manager
through the advanced options section.
If your 3C507 adapter does not work in 16-bit mode, try the
8-bit mode.
-
3C507 adapters must be set up
with only one 3C507 adapter in the machine.
To configure more than one 3C507 adapter,
you must put the first 3C507 adapter in the machine,
power it up,
run the Network Configuration Manager,
power the machine down,
and remove the adapter from the machine.
Then put the second 3C507 adapter in the machine
and repeat the procedure.
