SMC/Western Digital 8003 ISA series adapters
This UnixWare release supports these SMC 8003 series
compatible adapters:
-
SMC8003EP EtherCard PLUS Elite
-
SMC8003WC EtherCard PLUS Elite 10T
-
Western Digital WD8003 EtherCard Plus series
-
Western Digital WD8003 EtherCard Plus Elite series
Standard Microsystems Corporation (SMC)
has replaced the Western Digital Ethernet adapters
with their own interchangeable adapters.
Your SCO system provides support
for both the older Western Digital 8003 adapters
as well as their SMC replacements.
To complete configuration for these adapters,
the Network Configuration Manager prompts you for:
-
I/O base address
-
Interrupt vectors
CAUTION:
Do not use I/O base addresses 200, 220, 340, 3C0, or 3e0
for WD 8003E adapters. Because of register-address aliasing,
these addresses can cause your machine to hang at boot time.
-
Shared RAM address
For more information, see
``Configuration parameters''.
NOTE:
You must manually set jumpers for adapters
that are not software configurable.
