Administering filesystems

The Virtual Filesystem architecture allows multiple filesystem types to coexist in the system kernel. Each filesystem type has certain characteristic features that it does not share with any other filesystem types. However, the filesystem administrative commands provide a common interface that allows the administrator to maintain filesystems of differing types.
