Bootable partition administration

Each time you turn on your computer or reboot, the programs and data files used to boot the computer are read from the hard disk or the diskette and loaded into memory for execution. The programs and files are loaded from the currently active boot partition.

This section explains how to make additional bootable hard disk partitions, if necessary. For example, you may need to make another bootable hard disk partition for development purposes, or to accommodate a different operating system like DOS or OS/2®. Information is also provided about changing the active boot partition.
