Using the Mail and Messaging system

Converting mail folder formats

The UnixWare system supports two different mail folder formats:

dtmail and Netscape only support sendmail format.

By default, all new folders will be in sendmail format, so there will be no problems. However, if you are importing old mail folders from OpenServer systems where the default folder format was MMDF, you will need to convert them if you wish to use dtmail or Netscape with them.

To convert an MMDF folder to sendmail format, type the following command at a shell prompt:

mfck -c Sendmail mailfolder

mailfolder is the path to the mail folder file.

NOTE: You have to specify ``Sendmail'' with an uppercase ``S''.

If you wish to convert the other way (sendmail to MMDF format) use the following command:

mfck -c MMDF mailfolder
