System history log

The system history log contains a record of each action that alters the state of the system and queue. The system history log can be generated by uucp, uucico, uux, or uuxqt programs and put into the uucp, uucico, uux, uuxqt subdirectories of the /var/spool/uucp/.Log directory.

The format of each entry is as follows:

user system jobID time procID seqnum mesg1 mesg2

where:


user
user who submitted the job

system
name of the remote machine

jobID
job ID if a job is currently being processed; otherwise NULL

time
date and time that the entry was written to the file

procID
process ID of the BNU program

seqnum
file transfer sequence number within the current invocation of the BNU program

mesg1
status message

mesg2
status message elaboration

The following is a sample entry that uucico writes to /var/spool/uucp/.Log/uucico/mach1:

uucp mach1 (2/12-8:18:42, 2427, 0) CONN FAILED (NO DEVICES AVAILABLE)
