What is the OpenServer Kernel Personality?

The OpenServer Kernel Personality (OKP) runs OpenServer applications on UnixWare 7 without modification to the applications. It provides a complete OpenServer application deployment environment that provides the system services most applications require on OpenServer 5.0.0 through 5.0.7 systems.

The advantage of OKP is that the OpenServer application environment benefits from the reliability, scalability, and performance of UnixWare 7.

Click on OKP Documentation for the full table of contents for OKP documentation.

For a technical overview of OKP, see OKP Features.

Installing OKP and setting up the OpenServer environment are described in Getting Started with OKP.

Once OKP is setup, follow the instructions found under Running Applications under OKP to run OpenServer applications under OKP.

The topic OKP Notes and Limitations gives details about OpenServer commands, system files, drivers, and other system resources that are either not available to applications running under OKP or pose other compatibility challenges.
