The documentation consists of two types:

• Using the C++ Standard Components

  contains the following sections:

  • Preface --- this topic

    Getting Started --- A tutorial introduction to component-oriented software development using the components in this product. Discusses ``global'' issues like error handling and parameterized types. Illustrated with dozens of working code examples.

  • The Design of C++ Standard Components --- Explains many of the design decisions behind the product. Read this if you want to understand how and why C++ Standard Components may be different from other products.

  • A collection of tutorials, for most (but not all) of the tools and components. These take you step-by-step through each tool or component, illustrating key concepts with working code examples. Before you use a particular component for the first time, we suggest you read its tutorial.

• Manual pages for each tool and component.
