Configuring outgoing PPP connections

Defining an outgoing PPP link

To define a new outgoing PPP link using the PPP Outgoing Connection Wizard:

  1. On the Provider screen, enter details of the service provider at the other end of the link.

Click on Next to access the next screen.

  2. On the PPP Authentication screen, enter your identifier and secret(s) if the remote side of the link requires that you authenticate yourself using CHAP or PAP.

Click on Next to access the next screen.

  3. On the Login Script screen, enter details if the remote end of the link requires that you log in to authenticate yourself.

Click on Next to access the next screen.

  4. On the IP Network Protocol screen, enter details about IP address negotiation and routing that are required to establish a network connection with the service provider.

Click on Next to access the next screen.

  5. On the Name Servers screen, enter details about how the host will use DNS to resolve domain names to IP addresses.

Click on Next to access the next screen.

  6. On the Link Devices screen, enter details about the devices (modems over analog telephone lines, or ISDN adapters over ISDN lines) that can be used to establish a connection to the service provider.

Click on Finish to complete the configuration of the link definition.

Once you have entered these details, you should be able to access the service provider using the newly defined link.

If you subsequently need to modify the configuration, select the service provider bundle from the list in the bundle view, select Wizard -> Modify -> , then select Outgoing -- Internet/Intranet, and click on Start.
