Administering the Systems file

The /etc/uucp/Systems file (see Systems(4bnu)) contains information required by the uucico(1Mbnu) daemon to establish a UUCP link to a remote system. (Entries in the Systems file are also required when setting up a PPP Internet connection using the PPP Internet Connection Manager.)

UUCP (``UNIX-to-UNIX CoPy'') provides a scheduled file transfer capability. It can be used to build a WAN network for your computer using either hardwired or dial-up communication lines. Suitable communication devices to use are ISDN lines, telephone lines with modems, or directly-connected serial lines.
